This spring, Community Action House (CAH) launched the Food Club Mobile Market, a new initiative designed to bring fresh, healthy food directly into neighborhoods where access is limited. Made possible through a custom mobile unit built by The Farmers’ Truck and generous support from United Healthcare and the Allegan County Community Foundation, this project is a direct response to a critical need: 15% of CAH’s neighbors facing food insecurity can’t access food services due to lack of transportation.
In April alone, nearly 6,500 individuals came through the doors of the CAH Food Club. However, data shows that means over 900 individuals still faced barriers to accessing healthy food. The Mobile Market is a supplementary solution designed to close that gap—extending CAH’s reach and impact by taking nutritious food directly to communities in Allegan and Ottawa Counties.
By building on the Food Club’s existing food sourcing and logistics, the Mobile Market stays true to the Club’s core values—choice, flexibility, and access to fresh produce. It offers both regularly scheduled stops and spontaneous pop-up visits to ensure maximum accessibility.
